July 2021 - Cracking the Flags!

Following a very busy planting season with lots of trees in the ground you may think it is a time to relax and enjoy the fruits of our labour - Wrong!

On completion of planting we have endured a really wet and cold May followed by one of the driest Junes since records began. With almost five weeks without rain, this puts our newly planted trees under pressure as water vital for young trees to create a good fibrous root system.

We had contractors at the ready to water trees weekly, however given the temperature and total lack of rainfall, we have had to double the amount of watering to prevent any losses.  We now have three seperate teams delivering a minimum of 25 litres of water to each tree twice a week whilst the weather is hot. I have been known to go out myself to top this up where trees are looking a little worse for wear..
